I am single guy from NJ planning to move to SD, my work place is at Carlsbad, CA.So can anyone tell me what is the best place to take an apartment?
Is Carlsbad for rich and affluent people only?
and also any insights on how can the life be for a desi in SD would be great.

No, Carlsbad is not only for rich and affluent. We have also recently moved here from Michigan.Though majority of Indians here live in Mira Mesa/Scrpps Ranch/ Poway/caramel Valley...all around 20-25 miles away from carlsbad. carlsbad is typical white american area with less of indians. At least I have not seen/met many indians here. we live in townhome at Cassia road. I m sorry I cant help much as far as apartment goes. Ya I have heard few indians live here in apartments on Farraday. all these words you can google and find out more. Still feel free to buzz me if you need any info from me. I will be glad to help. There is a community called " San Diego Desis" on orkut, you might find it useful.

Hi. Thanks for responding and I will check out that site too.
This is a big move for me, since I have always lived in the east coast and I dont have friends in SD.
So how was the change from MI to CA? Apart from the weather, do you like anything more or anything less living in SD?

I love weather here except that nothing else in particular. One, we stay very far from Indian hub and secondly , people here are not very friendly. well thats my experience, I m sure life for u...being single and male will be different. On orkut community I told u, lots of single males keeps planning hiking or something.Nothing much for family fun sadly.
We dont have many friends here inspite of my best efforts. Now tired of all this, I have stopped making any efforts.
But I am sure you gonna have lots of fun here specially if u outdoor/water person. Check this site alsohttp://www.netipsd.org/

Thanks Ritu for all your thoughts.
Its scary that the orkut community has only 5 members.
Its snowing pretty hard here, that should atleast put some confidence in me.:)
BTW, your baby looks cute.
